Jody's Optical Resident Doctors of Optometry

Dr. Richard Trask graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, School of Optometry and began his practice of optometry in 1972.  He has maintained successful private practices in seventeen years California and seven years Alabama.  His experience also includes a number of years of clinical work in a major medical university and ophthalmology clinic in California as well as an administrator and clinical instructor for the University of Alabama, Birmingham, School of Optometry.  He has worked as adjunct clinical faculty through externship programs of Southern College of Optometry, Illinois college of Optometry, University of Montreal School of Optometry, and clinical instructor for the Southern California College of Optometry.  Dr. Trask also has experience working with Native American populations and Hispanics.  Dr. Trask has fulfilled international, national, and Alabama requirements for the treatment of external eye disease and recognition of internal eye disease.  He is a diplomat of the National Board of Examiners of Optometry and has maintained membership in the American Optometric Association for over 25 years.  Dr. Trask also has completed a master's degree program in Health Services Administration.

Dr. David Griggs, Optometrist operates out of our Athens location.  He is a 2000 graduate of UAB School of Optometry.  He has over five years experience.  He received his Bachelors of Science in Biology form Troy State University in 1995 and received his Doctor of Optometry degree from AB School of Optometry in 2000.

Dr. Griggs employment history includes private practice in Troy, Alabama from 2000 to 2003, private practice in n Daphne, AL from 2003 to 2005 and has now settled with Jody's Optical in Athens in 2005.

Dr. Samuel L. Kirby, OD, Optometrist operates out of our Florence location.  He attended the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa from 1969-1971.  He received his Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology in 1974.  He received is B. S. in Physiological Optics from the University of Alabama, Birmingham in 1978.  H received his Doctoral Degree in Optometry from the University of Alabama School of Optometry 1980.  He has been in private practice in Florence, Alabama ever since

Dr. Jeffery L. McLaughlin, O. D. , Optometrist operates out of our Florence location.  He is a 1989 Graduate of the University of Alabama School of Optometry with over sixteen years experience.  He has been in private practice since 1989.
